Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Manager to lead our accounting team and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in government accounting principles, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to manage financial reporting, budgeting, audits, and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, WAWF invoicing, general ledger, and taxes.
  • Ensure monthly close of financials, perform month end reconciliations, and prepare monthly financial statements and reports.
  • Ensure vendor invoice approvals are followed and in place and flow properly to the payment systems.
  • Maintain and enforce proper internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial data.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and relevant regulatory and tax reporting requirements, to include New Mexico Gross Receipts Tax.
  • Manage budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with other departments.
  • Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support overall company goals and objectives.
  • Work with employees to maintain payroll data records, proper withholdings and assist with benefit management program.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, preferably with a DOD government prime contractor.
  • Strong knowledge of Governmental GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Experience with FAR Cost Principles and DCAA/DCMA approved business systems.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks Online, Bill.com. etc.). Deltek Costpoint 8 or Unanet experience a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, in particular, Excel and Power Point.
  • Experience with internal and external audit, to include DCAA/DCMA.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
