Job Description
As the Advanced Manufacturing Chief Engineer at BlackVe, you will play a pivotal role in creating, developing, and implementing our advanced manufacturing initiatives. You will report to the VP Advanced Development where you will lead the engineering and execution of BlackVe’s advanced manufacturing strategy. This will include developing, leading, and interfacing with teams of cross-functional scientists, engineers, software developers and technicians to ensure successful implementation of the BlackVe advanced manufacturing strategy. You will be singularly responsible for the quality and timeliness of the technical work product for the advanced manufacturing activities at BlackVe.
You will also support BlackVe’s efforts in the creation, development, and execution of advanced manufacturing facilities, personnel development and training, and compliance to company, industry, facility, and safety standards. You will work with leaders from across BlackVe to ensure successful end-to-end execution of advanced manufacturing initiatives.
You will represent BlackVe’s technical work products to the customer in the areas of advanced manufacturing. You will work to develop strategic customer and vendor relationships. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the execution of the company's advanced manufacturing initiatives aligned with overall business objectives and technical roadmap for unclassified and classified manufacturing.
- Contribute to the creation of BlackVe’s advanced manufacturing strategy, processes, systems and facilities.
- Serve as the company’s leading technical authority for advanced manufacturing responsible for the quality and timeliness of all technical work products.
- Lead BlackVe’s efforts in procurement, installation, and commissioning of advanced manufacturing hardware and software components.
- Represent and convey advanced manufacturing requirements to satellite and other BlackVe teams.
- Recruit, manage and sustain a team of scientists, engineers, software developers and technicians to ensure successful implementation of the BlackVe advanced manufacturing initiatives.
- Work closely with the cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on goals and timelines to meet customer (both internal and external) requirements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and partners.
- Ensure that all products meet safety, performance, facility and quality standards.
- Implement best practices in product development, engineering processes, and project management.
- Provide leadership and mentorship across the BlackVe team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in advanced manufacturing and leverage this knowledge to drive innovation and competitive advantage.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on advanced manufacturing representing the company in industry forums, conferences, and technical discussions.
- Collaborate with external partners, vendors, and research institutions to explore new opportunities and expand our advanced manufacturing vision.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in aerospace, production, testing, and certification of high-value aerospace systems.
- Proven ability to innovate.
- Proven track record of successfully leading aerospace manufacturing and production initiatives in a complex, fast moving environment.
- Proven track record of leading space launch initiatives to include initiating and managing launch contracts, spacecraft to LV integration, and on-orbit checkout and operations.
- In-depth knowledge of spacecraft manufacturing and production tools, safety, processes and procedures.
- Proven track record of delivering aerospace articles on time and within budget.
- Experience managing engineers, technicians, and cross-functional teams.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and lead cross-functional teams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a strategic mindset, with the ability to balance technical rigor with business priorities.
- Must have the ability to qualify and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
