Job Description
BlackVe is seeking an experienced Director of Security overseeing security operations for multiple cleared facilities and site operations. This critical role ensures full compliance with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) and related directives, managing all aspects of facility, personnel, and information security. The ideal candidate will lead a team of security experts, support the certification process as well as maintain accreditation of secure environments up to SCIF/SAPF, and safeguard classified programs across our operating sites.
The ideal candidate is a strategic leader who can navigate complex regulatory landscapes while managing a diverse team of security professionals across various geographic locations while based in Albuquerque NM.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Oversight: Serve as the primary authority for security operations across multiple operating sites, ensuring strict adherence to 32 CFR Part 117 (NISPOM)
- Serve as the primary Facility Security Officer (FSO) for multiple operating sites with cleared facilities, ensuring adherence to all NISPOM requirements, including personnel security, physical security, information security, and classified contract administration.
- Oversee the management of facilities, security clearances (including processing, maintenance, and terminations), IT systems (ensuring compliance with cybersecurity standards like NIST and RMF), and all personnel and physical security measures.
- Lead the certification and accreditation processes for Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs) and Special Access Program Facilities (SAPFs) in accordance with Intelligence Community Directives (ICDs), particularly ICD 705, including design, construction, inspection, and ongoing compliance audits.
- Manage a team of security professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance oversight to maintain organizational compliance with NISPOM, DoD directives, and other regulatory frameworks.
- Conduct risk assessments, incident investigations, and security audits; develop and implement security policies, procedures, and emergency response plans.
- Coordinate with government agencies (e.g., DCSA, NSA, or sponsoring agencies) for inspections, reporting, and clearance verifications.
- Handle classified information safeguarding, including storage, transmission, and destruction protocols.
- Ensure IT security compliance, including management of secure networks, access controls, and cybersecurity incident response.
- Foster a culture of security awareness through training programs for employees and contractors.
- Travel to multiple sites as needed to oversee operations and address security issues.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 20 years of experience in industrial security.
- Proven experience in the certification and management of SCIFs and SAPFs per ICD standards, including hands-on involvement in accreditation processes.
- Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance (with eligibility for SAP access); must be able to maintain and upgrade as needed.
- In-depth knowledge of NISPOM (32 CFR Part 117), ICD 705, DoD Manual 5205.07, and related security regulations.
- Experience managing security for multiple sites, including personnel clearances, facility accreditations, and IT systems security.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing a team of security experts.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in security management software and tools (e.g., JPAS/DISS, SIMS, or equivalent).
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications such as ISP (Industrial Security Professional), CPP (Certified Protection Professional), or CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional).
- Familiarity with Risk Management Framework (RMF) for IT systems accreditation.
- Prior involvement in security incident response and investigations.
