Job Description
As the Lead Spacecraft Integration and Test Engineer at BlackVe, you will play a pivotal role in leading our spacecraft assembly, integration, and test (AI&T) activities. You will be a critical member of the Spacecraft Programs Team by leading AI&T of our prototype spacecraft. This will include developing, leading, and interfacing with teams of cross-functional scientists, engineers, software developers and technicians to ensure successful assembly, integration, and test strategies and execution.

You will be required to identify and lead work within a small and agile team on a broad set of tasks and ensure the highest quality product through all phases of the space element design, build, test and operations. Collaboration across engineering and software disciplines is essential. Personal ownership and accountability within the Spacecraft Programs Team is aligned with the necessary responsibilities to be successful within the company.
Essential Job Functions
- Lead the execution of the company's Spacecraft AI&T activities
- Identify, create, and curate BlackVe’s spacecraft AI&T strategy, processes, systems, and facilities
- Identify, design, develop, and implement all AI&T production protocols, assemblies, testing methods and equipment
- Provide leadership and mentorship across the BlackVe Spacecraft Programs AI&T team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
- Serve as a subject matter expert on spacecraft AI&T and space launch
- Experience with standard lab equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, thermocouples/temp sensors
- Experience with qualification and acceptance testing of hardware products
- Proven ability to create test plans, test cases, test procedures, and test reports
- Documentation of key activities such as test results, quality control and failures
- Experience troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software integration problems
- Reports progress in meeting program requirements periodically
Required Qualifications
- Degree or Engineering Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field – OR – 15+ years of related experience AI&T engineering or operations, including full program life cycle from proposal to project close out.
- Proven track record of successfully leading spacecraft AI&T initiatives in a complex, fast moving environment for a major space program, preferably in a commercial environment.
- Experience with assembly workflows, procedure development, hazardous operations, electrical and mechanical proficiency as applicable to small satellite systems.
- Experience with any of the following: Epsilon3, Labview, Matlab, Python, Altium, SolidWorks, AutoCAD.
- Must have the ability to qualify and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with launch campaign planning, logistics and participation.
- Ability to effectively communicate professionally in writing or verbally with all levels of personnel.
- Experience with control of sensitive and confidential information as required by company standards.
- Experience working in cleanroom environments.
Location and Travel Requirements
This position is based in Albuquerque, NM, with occasional travel to other company locations, partner facilities or launch sites as needed.
