Defense and space technology company expands business in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A space security company is making good on a promise to expand in Albuquerque. The defense and space technology company BlackVe Inc. cut the ribbon on Tuesday on its new headquarters off Gibson, near Carlisle. The 30,000-square-foot facility is in the MaxQ development on the north side of Kirtland Air Force Base near Gibson and Girard.

They’ll manufacture spacecraft using advanced technology. “Space is a critical component for all of our economies, as well as for it goes anywhere from your cell phone’s GPS, all the way to communication, the internet rides on all of the space systems that are out there,” said Stanley Straight, Vice President of Spacecraft Engineering, BlackVe.

The New Mexico Economic Development Department projects the expansion will have a more than $225 million economic impact and create 152 jobs over the next decade.
